1. Inspec Fibres 6th Annual Dinner & Technical Seminar
|
Inspec hosted their 6th Annual Dinner & Seminar on November 29, 2007 at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA., coinciding with the Filtration Conference & Exposition which rotates annually between Philadelphia and Chicago.
The Franklin Institute was also the setting for the afternoon technical seminar where 25 attendees where able to hear two presentations, from new technology to plant updates. The first presentation was given by Dr. Herbert Griesser, Inspec Fibres General Manager, on “Reasons for Increased Filtration Efficiency of Filter Media of Multi-lobal P84 Fibers”. The presentation focused on the filtration influences of fibers with circular and multi-lobal diameters. This was demonstrated through fiber comparisons of the flow field and filtration behavior as well as the interpretation of the VDI tests of various blended filter media.
The second presentation was prepared by Inspec Fibres’ newest colleague, Mr. Florin Popovici on “Beier Albany / Eskom Experience with Filtration Fibers in Utility Boilers”. Primary topics dealt with the trial bag program, the options considered by Eskom in improving filtration performance, solutions and conclusions. Both these presentations are available on the Inspec Fibres website, www: P84.com under the Presentation Section of the web page.
76 customers, suppliers and friends, attended the evenings social event which included music and dinner under the stars in the museum’s planetarium, followed by the presentation “In Search of Life” also within the planetarium. All the guests where then invited to view the Darwin Exhibit featured at the museum. We look forward to our next function which will be held during the ‘Filtration 2007” at the Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois in mid November 2007. We look forward to the return of our attendees and look forward to inviting new people in.

2. Organization Change:
 |
Mr.Werner Themmel has been promoted and will now be responsible for the business areas of marketing & sales, coordinating Inspec’s sales and distribution strategy.
Werner joined the sales team of Inspec Fibres on October 1, 2005, and was responsible for high temperature filtration technical sales for Eastern Europe and key cement accounts. He has wide-ranging experience in the filtration industry working more than 12 years with a PTFE-membrane manufacturer servicing OEM's, felt manufacturers and filter bag producers, in particular, for high temperature applications. |
3. New Addition To Inspec Fibres:
 |
Mr. Florin Popovici has joined the technical sales team of Inspec Fibres.
With more than 15 years experience in the filtration industry, Florin will significantly increase the expertise of Inspec Fibres in this area. His expertise is concentrated especially with the South African energy supplier Eskom having been responsible for the operation of a coal fired boiler plant and Eskom TSI (Technology Services International) as Chief Engineer. Florin will work as a consultant out of his home in Edenvale, Johannesburg, RSA being responsible for technical service in RSA, Australia and South Eastern Europe. |
4. U.S. Specifies Blended Filter Bags:
 |
With approximately 70-80% of newly installed PTFE bags in Europe are blended with P84, and now with South Africa ESKOM is specifying pps filter bags for coal fired boilers with P84 fibers and adding Procon tri-lobal fibers on the filtration surface, the number of plants with pps/P84 filter bags is steadily increasing within the U.S. |
Babcock & Wilcox has taken the initiative in specifying pps/P84 fiber blends for five U.S. coal fired boilers; Iowa-Mid America Council Bluffs, Wisconsin-Weston Bend, Wyoming-WyGen, Nevada-Newmont Mining, New Mexico-San Juan and two additional NRG Energy projects (OEM un-awarded) has also specified pps/P84; Huntley and Dunkirk.
Additional details are available through the Inspec Fibres web page at www:P84.com under presentations. |
5. A New Facelift
 |
Our goal is in providing our customers with updated information on how our fibers are being utilized in the filtration market, as well as what new developments in technology are being used in the market. To accomplish this, we will be publishing through the email, a quarterly newsletter that may contain articles of interest to you and your colleagues. If the information in the newsletter has additional details, we will have it available through our web page that you may browse at your convenience.
