Evonik’s gas separation membranes are based on the polyimide polymeric fibre-spinning technology. Gas separation membranes work according to the principle of selective permeation through a membrane surface. The rate of permeation of each gas depends on its solubility in the membrane material and the rate of diffusion. Gases that exhibit high solubility in the membranes and that are of a small molecular dimension permeate faster than larger, less soluble gases.
