P84® NT - Unique polyimide powder material manufactured by Evonik

Our P84®NT powder combine the outstanding properties of polyimide, such as high temperature resistance up to 350 °C, chemical resistance, high mechanical strength, low coefficients of friction and minimal abrasion.

P84® NT Polyimide Powder

Evonik's Polyimide powder P84®NT unites the outstanding properties of polyimide, such as high temperature stability up to 350°C, chemical resistance, high mechanical strength, a low friction coefficient and minimal abrasion.

By using common sintering technologies such as hot compression molding or direct forming, they can be processed into semi-finished products and components that ensure good machinability with standard tools thanks to their high mechanical stability and impact strength.

Compounds with solid lubricants like graphite, molybdenum sulfide or PTFE can be used for tribologically demanding applications.

Product Range

Several types of polyimide powders are available to meet your requirements.

Compounds

Pure polyimde or customized compounds? Compounds with functional fillers like PTFE, graphite, molybdenum sulfide, reinforcement with carbon or glass fibers can be produced upon request or choose from our standard portfolio.

Particle size

Easy handling with free flowing properties and limited dust or small primary particles? From fine powder of 1-10µm to granules up to 3mm.

Heat resistance

Hot or very hot? Two types of polymer modifications to meet even outstanding demands on temperature stability.

Preferred processing

Big semifinished parts or a high number of small accurate parts? We distribute types for Hot compression molding as well as powder for direct forming.

Discription

Hot compression molding

Production of big semi-finished parts with best mechanical properties Powder is placed into a mold and sintered under a pressure of 400 kg/cm2 at about 360°C for 3 h.

Direct forming

Manufacturing of high quantities of small accurate parts. Small „green“ parts are produced in a press at ambient temperature and a pressure of about 4000 kg/cm2 within cycle times of a couple of seconds. The „green“ parts are then sintered in an oven without pressure.

Properties of P84® NT polyimide powder

  • Excellent performance at high temperatures
  • High strength and excellent shape stability
  • Very good impact resistance
  • High heat deflection temperature
  • Very good creep resistance even at elevated temperatures
  • Machinable with standard tools - Low wear and friction behavior
