In concurrent with The Filtration 2009 International Conference & Exposition, which is being held at the Navy Pier, Chicago, Illinois on November 17-19, 2009
Evonik Fibres cordially invites you and your guests to join us for our 8th Annual Appreciation Dinner and Technical Seminar.
In appreciation for those that are connected to our filtration industry, from OEM’s and Plant Managers to Bag Suppliers and Felt Manufacturers, Evonik Fibres is planning three events where our guests have the options of selecting one or all three to participate in.

P84 & Procon Technical Support

As part of our support to our customers and the end
users that depend on P84 bags, there are always
questions that a situation needs clarification on the abilities of P84.
We would like to share these with our readers…..
Affects of P84 and ammonia primarily with an SCR upstream
Tests with ammonia far above typical concentrations after SCR did not lead to any hint for a susceptibility of P84. P84 is successfully used in filter aft SCR and SNCR in applications like waste incinerators, coal fired boiler and cement kilns confirming its suitability.
With typical conditions after SCR there is no negative effect on P84 at all, just the advantage that NOx and in particular NO2 are lower which will increase the bag life .
P84 and HCL application
HCl and P84 would not be a major concern as the acid dew point is much lower than that of sulfuric acid. Operation well above the dew point can be maintained typically and prevents damage to P84 at HCL concentrations even above 100ppm.
Procon and oxygen limitations
Oxygen is causing chemical ageing to Procon (PPS) but the effect is depending on the temperature, therefore no general limitation for the oxygen content can be made.
- Oxygen concentrations up to 21% are applicable e.g. in drier applications at temperatures up to 120-140°C. (e.g. some gypsum calciner, pneumatic transport of fly ash)
- Above 140°C the oxygen content might have to be limited (e.g. to 10-15%) depending on expected bag life and other flue gas components.
- Operation above 160°C can not be recommended as typically (e.g. after CFB, cement kilns) the bag life drops below expectations. Bag life would app. be reduced by 50% due to an
increase from 160 to 180°C.
